This year, the beach stadium of Tignes really played an important role in our summer events . Beach Soccer, Beach Rugby or Beach Volley, all emerging beach sports were “in da place”. With 2022 seats, covered with 600 tonnes of sand, the “Tignes’ Beach” allowed holidaymakers to feel like being on a “true beach” … but at an altitude of 2100 metres. Let’s go back on the results of the beach events of summer 2007.
Euro Beach Soccer 2007 - Results
The first ones to walk officially upon the thin sand of this wonderful stadium was the football players of the Euro Beach Soccer, from July 27th to 29th 2007, lead like each year by the Cantona brothers. The French team wanted to make a strong impression at home, and especially wanted to rectify the bad results of last year in this same stadium. Good weather, large public and pretty pom-pom girls, everything was gathered to enjoy a party week-end. Each team made the show in their own way, and it’s finally France and Russia who went to a final fight. We quivered until the last minute, to see Russia win on the score of 5 to 4, victory largely due to their goal keeper, elected best goal keeper of the stage as every time since the beginning of the season. The French team will get its revenge next time …
Big draw lot to win the Subaru Forester Club - Results
Like each year, Tignes’resort organised during winter a big draw lot to win a car of our most precious partner, Subaru (31 000 euros!). To participate to this big game, it was really simple: holidaymakers wrote their names and addresses on the free bulletins in the « Maisons de Tignes ». This year, the big winner of this Subaru Forester Club was Keri Benta. The handing over took place during the Euro Beach Soccer. It just goes to show, it doesn’t always happen to others... You too, come in Tignes and try one’s luck during next winter, and maybe you will win the next big lot who is everybody dreams!
Beach Rugby Tournament
Second beach event, Tignes and its rugby men association "les 100 fous du score" welcomed for the second consecutive year a stage of Lakes’ Rugby, organised by the « Comité des Alpes » under the French Rugby Federation supervision. This amateur championship was the occasion to show a different and playful rugby, a rugby which would not scare. The presence of famous players like Ludovic Lousteau, Patrick Tabacco or Lionel Mallier, helps each year to stimulate matches. Even if it’s just for fun, rugby men and their legendary "party spirit" set the resort on fire during a week end. The Rugby World Cup, which will take place in France, will increase the fame of this sport.
Championnat de France de Beach Volley Tournament 2007 - Results
To close this summer mostly dedicated to beach sports, Tignes welcomed from August 9th to 12th, and for the first time of its history, one stage of the French Beach Volley Tournament. This stage in Tignes had a special interest for volley-ball players, because it represented the last chance to qualify for the Beach Volley Tour final, which takes place from August 13th to 19th in Porticcio (Corsica). Sunday, day of the finals, was blessed with a wonderful sun and 1500 spectators came to see the best ones hitting and diving in the sand. For the Women final, Camille Clavreul (19 years of age) and Emma Larche (19 years of age) won 2 sets to 0 (24-22 et 21-14) against Laura Longuet (19 years of age) and Aurélie Pause (18 years of age). For the Men final, Renaud Ventresque (19 years of age) and Vincent Lacombe (17 years of age) didn’t let any chance to Julien Lyneel (17 years of age) and Brice Phesee (19 years of age), winning 2 sets to 0 (21-10 et 21-19). Note that all finalists are members of the Junior French Beach Volley Team. We can forecast a good future to the French Beach Volley teams...
